I saw everyone else posting their ghetto studios and just HAD to post mine!!!:-) Notice the mixer desk broke from fat asses sitting on it, YES that is a Brio Wooden Train board on it. And I figured why make baffles when you can spend $1300 on two 10ft Pa stacks fo no reason, so they are now my baffles. Moved stuff around a bit and got a DAW now running cubase, but still ghetto as ever, and yes I still have the Brio Board mixer desk:-) Of course I HAD to frame my recording certificate from Omega Studios and hang it about my BRio mixer desk too! Can you find more ghetto things? I can count at least 10, but I have to make it fun for you.

Ok I'll play.
1.) The pink plastic wire basket holding the mail.
2.) Cables on the floor.
3.) The cassett tape holder on the wall.
4.) No near-field monitors
5.) Set of cans on the floor under the mixing desk
6.) Is that a bunch of towles or foam wrapped around a pipe running down the middle of the ceiling?
7.) Industrial strength blade fan on the floor.
8.) I see a precariously placed guitar case on top of an amp.
9.) Stuffed animal hanging by its tail on the wall?
10.) No lava lamps.

That's all I can find. :D

NO LAVA LAMP???? How cheesy is that????

That's my dollar store duster, the pink basket is actually patterns for my mom's sewing area around the corner, what stuffed animal on the wall?? And that's not an amp that guitar case is sitting on that's one of my horns.

Pat

YEah I know, but hey I have a fog machine, a strobe light and blacklights, so I think that should make up for it:-) And if it doesn't I have a blinking traffic light.

Pat

Stuffed animal.
Hmmm, guess that's your duster. Hard to tell in the pic.

Ok... I'll take a stab...

1) Check the chair right around the edge of the one speaker stack... definitely ghetto :)

2) All the manuals and crap piled beneath the desk on the little shelf.

3) The guitar stand that isn't being used for the flying V guitar that won't even fit on a stand, so its laying on the ground.

4) All the little crap knick knack things that look like they are sitting on the speaker stacks in the far back of the picture.

5) and.... drum roll.... the fact that you have a "gonna hurt someone" look on your face as you stroll through the studio... must be in a gang or somfin ;P

Yeah that's the duster, yeah the nicknacks I don't know are you talking about the evil bunny?? That's the only nicknack other than an extra kickpedal, and I was just walking and someone took the picture, it's not like I posed for it or somthing:-) Oh and the flying V isn't my guitar, it's a wall hanging that cost me $80 at the pawn shop, I have a epiphone SG that is out of the picture that I am supposed to keep on that stand. These are all good ones, anything else guys??:-)

Pat

Looks like a pretty loud spot to be standing to me. You've got like fourty 12" speakers pointed at you from all directions.

mbuster...

Actually every single one of the speakers is probably phase reversed and time delayed so that if you stand RIGHT in the middle, you don't hear anything... perfect silence :)

Velvet Elvis

Actually the SP5Gs don't even play right now they're just there to hold stuff up, the stacks are the only things playing, but that's just for practicing. Obviously you didn't notice the $20 best buy special Aiwas that are used for recording monitoring:-)

Pat

So....

what's the noise reduction coefficient of a Brio table anyhow?

Velvet Elvis

Not sure of the abosorbtion coeffecient but it's not that bad on the non painted side:-)

I've got a "mic stand" that's pretty ghetto. I got one of those spring loaded swing-arm typ desk lamps from Staples for like $20. I took off the lamp part and put in a shockmount in its place. It mounts to the desk in my one room studio/ vocal booth/ living room. My wife loves it. I'll post a pic later.

Florescent lighting in the drop ceiling is definitely a ghetto lighting effect and great for causing buzzes and headaches! :)

the pink basket is actually patterns for my mom's sewing area around the corner,

at your age you are still living at home???

now that's ghetto ;)

cheers
john

No I live in an apartment, cause at MY AGE I can't afford a house so I left everything at my mom's house, which is about 30-45min away, but good try though. Damn do I look 23 in that picture?? I was like 18 then, man I need a facelift or somthing. Was cool buying beer at 17, but damn how'm I gonna look when I'm 60?? Now I'm depressed, and this was supposed to be a happy post. THANKS JOHN!!!!:-)

I did the same thing, but adding to the ghettoness is that it's clamped to a music stand and has a diy pop screen attached with a Staples copyholder. :)
