My "new" Tascam 388! Best outboard gear??

i just picked up a nice looking dbx 119 for $30. I'm assuming I can use as a compressor but doesn't seem to have any make up gain. I'm not sure about how I can use the expander bit. Any thoughts on these units??

I have one and I use it with the 388 also. It's a nice little compressor for acoustic guitar. That's what I mainly use it for. It adds a little 'character/colour' to the signal. I have also used it for snare mic too. I wish it had a make up gain. I think it's just a version of the dbx 160vu without the gain or meter and an expander added. I don't use the expander.
