Hey guys Im new to recording... But i have alot of people in my family who are massive recording producers and engineers... They just dont have the time to answer my questions.

The room is built and is a meaty size... Im wondering about geting a 16 track mixer into my computer... Ive just made the computer myself and is extremely extremely fast. Im just wondering about what kind of 16 track is good for value and good sound.

Preferably on ebay or a music website?

Thankyou so much!,

Thom

Good value AND good sound -

Soundcraft Ghost. It'll be 24 channels, but the preamps are pretty decent as long as you use the upgraded power supply and they're fairly easily modified.

Although if you plan on mixing "in the box" then I'd strongly suggest stand-alone preamps - Or a "budget friendly" 8 channel unit (Sapphire Pro? Onyx?) and sprinkle in some nicer units on top of that.

And of course, you're going to need an interface that can handle it - MOTU's 24-I/O is a no-brainer there.

You could also just get a 16 Channel Firewire Mixer that you can use a a 16 Channel Interface or as a Mixer when not conected to your PC...

Maybe something like the Alesis 16 Channel Firewire mixer or the Mackie Onyx 400F??

Cheers
