ya'll may know that our own Metalhead has become an amazing guitar builder.
Here's some pics of my new guitar he built for me.
He's quite a guitar builder and I don't just casually plunk down the change for someone to build me a git when I could do it myself.
But this is just beautiful work:

you can't really tell at that size in the pics but the p'up mounting rings and the trussrod cover are made of curly maple.

Yeah, I could tell - it's a nice touch.

The angle of the grain at the bookmatch join below the bridge is very nice, too.

Hows the playability? What kind of HBs are in there? Details, I say! :)

Beautiful guitfiddle LT. Metalhead does nice work. I've followed along on a few of his builds (including yours cuz I'm stalking you :) and you can tell it's a labor of love with him.

Well I haven't played it yet but I did play a couple of his others before I ordered it and they played GREAT.

The p'ups are Duncan P-Rails. So they are actually a single-coil and a P-90 together so on each p'up you can choose a P-90 or a single coil or combine them for a HB.
When you get a chance check out his You Tube that I put a link to. He does a very good job of explaining and demonstrating the p'ups.

If it plays as well as I'm sure it will, then it will absolutely be my main gigging guitar. I wanted it for that purpose.
I think that I'll probably NOT use it on outside gigs where I'd be sweating on it or that ocean salt air would be corroding it but if I'm not gonna use it then what's the point?
I want a superior instrument to help lift my playing just that much higher as I do this for my living and only income so the goal is ultimately to elevate my playing/appearance/versatility as high as I can because that increases your work load.

Long ago I had a silver plated Mark VI tenor sax. Haven't really seen many of them and this one was old but had set in a closet for its' entire life so it was brand new condition-wise and it was gorgeous. So I mostly couldn't bring myself to take it to smoky bar gigs with drunk musicians stumbling around the stage.
Eventually I sold it 'cause there was no point in having it if I wasn't gonna play it.
Nowadays I'd use the hell out of it 'cause after 45 years of playing I'm no longer quite as protective of my stuff.

I'll be very careful with my new git ....... and there will be gigs where I use a different git because of sweat or salt air but in general I'm gonna play the crap out of it!

Thanks ...... yeah that's the thing about Will. He's not letting a git go out until he's[/b[ satisfied with it and he's super picky about an ax's playability.
So it has to be just so before he'll let it out the door.
Definitely the beginning of a GREAT building career for Will Stinnett.
 
Yep, I'm familiar with the P-Rail, at least from SD's web site. I may put one in my '76-manufactured 1960 LP Special reissue. Long ago I carved out the bridge P-90 cavity enough to get a Super Distortion HB in there, but with a P-Rail I could get that P-90 thing back, plus have the HB as well.

I'd never seen any with covers on, though!

Anyhow, that guitar is a beaut and I hope you enjoy it for years to come.

Edit: I see now that your P-rails don't have covers - the beige color threw me off, I guess, and I didn't look at them closely enough to tell what they were.
 
I'm hugely envious of Metalhead's talent. I do believe my next guitar may very well be one of his.
