Hey guys, A few weeks ago I purchased this "broken" 4 four track online for about 20 bucks. All I did to "fix" it was put a new capstan belt on and clean and demag. It works perfect now and I'm falling in love with it's features. For any of you who aren't familiar it's the FOSTEX 260 4 Track. I still think I like Tascam best of the two brands, but this thing is super cool. Its got 6 inputs altogether and the main 4 with preamps, tape outs for all four tracks, 5-6 line ins, stereo outs L & R, Monitor L & R, 2 Aux sends, L & R Buss ins,Pitch control, NR, Its got 2- 1/4" headphone jacks (that's really cool) High and Low eq section- each freq has sweeps, electronic button controls for the tape transport and best of all - insert drum roll here pleazzzzzeeeeee!!! It looks like an oversize calculator! You know those calculators old people use with the huge LCD screen and the huge buttons, super colorful and all. This thing is soo 80's in design (which I happen to like anyway), but it's features are great! Actually, I lied..... The best part about this machine is that it sounds amazing.... I'm going to have fun.:D

Hey, congrats on the Fostex 260! From the looks of it, it seems quite a rare find and if it means anything, the 260 cost like a grand in 1986 dollars!;)

The Fostex 260...

was the only Fostex cassette recorder I've ever wanted!

Fostex mixers are a little archaic, though. I've always preferred Tascams, with their stacked knobs & more logical layout of the channel strip. Anyway, a Fostex is a Fostex, and they're functional if not flashy.:eek:;)

This one's dusty!:eek::eek:;)

I think that was one of the first 4 tracks I ever used. I rented it for a weekend from a local music store. I could never remember the name or model, but I remember what it looked like. I don't think I have ever seen one since, though I have looked...
