The mic i have is This One...I plugged it into my computer and try to record and...nothing..it didnt record as far as i can see there is no on or off switch being that it is a studio microphone but anybody got any suggestions, or maybe have gone through the same problem. If so, let me know any advice would be thankfully appreciated.

thats a condensor mic, you cannot plug it directly into your computer since it requires 48v phantom power.

you need to buy a preamp with phantom power to plug the mic into first, then in to your soundcard.

Buy a mixer or a preamp that has +48Volts of phantom power, Since its a condensor mic you need power for it to work. You will need some XLR cables (the three pin cables) to go from the mic to the mixer or preamp.

Then get some cables from the preamp to your computer, or whatever.... :D

Alright thanks for the info i already got the three-pronged cable, but how much does a preamp run for?

Preamplifiers are as variable as mics, from $40 per channel to $2500 per channel or even more. For a pretty good inexpensive preamp. the M-Audio DMP-3 is very popular, about $140 U.S. -Richie

I really hope you got a pop filter with it and didn't beat the hell out of it trying to get it to work without phantom power.

The diaphrams in these mics are very sensitive to abuse.

My mic doesn't record either. It simply amplifies my voice when I talk or sing into it. I can't find the "record" button on it.

Alright thanks for all the feedback i received, and yes i did get a pop filter with it.

Thanks again for all the feedback...i didn't even get a pre-amp...i jus got a phantom power pack for $40.00...and it records just fine thanks for the advice though.
