okay so i got the card yestruday and im all "yippie" so I install the software, then it tells me to insert the card, which I do...then kablammo...laptop freezes.
Okay so i restart thinking maybe..i don't know...it might work....but no..it freezes when it boots up.
So my first reaction was, its probably a IRQ conflict so I do a Format and install Windows XP Pro, with nothing else installed, Put the Echo IO in, Bam frozen again!
I tried the echo card in my dad's Compaq presario peice of crap 3 year old notebook and it worked...grrrr..no way was i gonna be outdone by a little turd.
So i tested to make sure the PC card slot in my laptop was cool, Inserted a Wireless card in and it detected and acted normally.
So now im getting desperate, I installed WindowsXP Home.....BAM freezes!
So now I have just finished installing windows2000 pro SP3 and now it will not freeze(which is an improvement) but it WONT detect it at all! It will detect the wireless card though.
My conclusion:
I think that the Echo card is not a Type II as they say it is. Im pissed off.
My notebook "should" accept Type II Pc cards as it says on its website and the Echo says "Type II Cardbus slot required ." I looked at the 4-1 Memory reader PC card that came with my notebook and compared it to the Echo and wireless card. The memory card reader is identical to the wireless but the echo has slighty, slighty smaller holes and there is another difference that will not help because I cant explain it well enough. but it is the same thickness so that should make it a type II card.
So...any suggestions? I have researched External USB Card readers that have a type 2 slot but Im not sure if it will work correctly with the echo.
It will be destroyed..the laptop or the echo--it doesnt matter at this point.
thanks.
