Hello,Hello,

Im gonna try to be in my nicest voice but the past 2 days have lead me to use every known curse word in my vocabulary.

Okay, I bought a Echo IO card to install into my Lapttop

Link to echo specs:
http://www.echoaudio.com/Products/IndigoIO/index.php

link to my laptop specs:(Acer Travel Mate 803LCi)
http://www.acer.com/app/akc/interne...696E94400D63C6FE88256CCA0055566C?OpenDocument

okay so i got the card yestruday and im all "yippie" so I install the software, then it tells me to insert the card, which I do...then kablammo...laptop freezes.
Okay so i restart thinking maybe..i don't know...it might work....but no..it freezes when it boots up.

So my first reaction was, its probably a IRQ conflict so I do a Format and install Windows XP Pro, with nothing else installed, Put the Echo IO in, Bam frozen again!

I tried the echo card in my dad's Compaq presario peice of crap 3 year old notebook and it worked...grrrr..no way was i gonna be outdone by a little turd.
So i tested to make sure the PC card slot in my laptop was cool, Inserted a Wireless card in and it detected and acted normally.

So now im getting desperate, I installed WindowsXP Home.....BAM freezes!

So now I have just finished installing windows2000 pro SP3 and now it will not freeze(which is an improvement) but it WONT detect it at all! It will detect the wireless card though.

My conclusion:
I think that the Echo card is not a Type II as they say it is. Im pissed off.
My notebook "should" accept Type II Pc cards as it says on its website and the Echo says "Type II Cardbus slot required ." I looked at the 4-1 Memory reader PC card that came with my notebook and compared it to the Echo and wireless card. The memory card reader is identical to the wireless but the echo has slighty, slighty smaller holes and there is another difference that will not help because I cant explain it well enough. but it is the same thickness so that should make it a type II card.

So...any suggestions? I have researched External USB Card readers that have a type 2 slot but Im not sure if it will work correctly with the echo.

It will be destroyed..the laptop or the echo--it doesnt matter at this point.

thanks.

Jus give me a holla before flaming your soundcard...I'm gonna bring my muthafucking M-Audio USB and we'll have a grand ole time lighting up the night's sky!

I feel your pain. I cannot believe some of the shit that has come up with my USB Duo. Here is a link to my post:

As you can see from my opening comments...I am at my wits end with this bitch!

I'll search around and see if I can help solve your problem...since I seem to be getting nowhere with mine.

Update

Okay So I found out there are 2 different "types" of type II Pc cards.
One is a 16-Bit High voltage and another is a 32-bit Low voltage.
All of the Pc cards that I have tested my notebook with are 16-bit cards. The 32-bit cards have that gold contact plate on the top, which the Echo IO does have. So now im getting really pissed because if my laptop wont take 32-bit cards, somone's gonna get a size 12 up their ass.
Now im gonna go and find a 32-bit Pc card to test in my laptop, hopefully it works so i can at least sleep, if not....

......Winston and I Invite everyone to a good ol' fashoned fire......audio fire! MUHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
