My little brother (aged 12) used to go to a small social club based at a church down my road. He used to speak to the main guy down there and he informed him that the place was closing down very soon. My brother is a keen gymnast and as the church has some equipement he asked if he could take it, and the guy said he could have whatever he wanted once it has shut down.
The place had been shut for about 3 months, and my brother was going past the church with his mates when he noticed a key lying on the ground. They picked it up and luckily it was the key to the church! They went inside and used the equipement as they usually would, and also noticed a few notes with destiruction dates. The place was being knocked down in a few weeks so my little brother took a look around to see what he could loot!
He came home, explained how he had found the key and hands me over two microphones... I didnt expect much as it was from an old run-down church. Two new audio-technica ATM33a's still in their box! I couldnt believe it, I drove down to the place today and picked myself up a huge load of XLR cable and a small amplifier! There was a load of gym equipement, a pool table and table tennis tables that are all going to be knocked down soon... im just so surprised they hadnt emptied the place before knocking it down!
Anyway, i dont think taking the stuff was a bad thing as it was being knocked down and they would have been dumped anyway... but what a lucky find! Just thought i would let you guys know!
