Just tried using Wavelab for the first time. I used to only use it to analize my average volume after mixing a song in my TASCAM. This time I did a bit of processing and did it all in Wavelab. Took a while to get to know things but I'm going to love this when I do get to know it. Inspired by Llarion and Chris, I spent the last few days writing and recording this while taking notes and picking a few brains (especially Llarion's). I changed the way I did a couple of thing. Tried eq-ing my drums and vocals a little differently than usual and tried a few more effects than usual.
So once again, I ask for everyone's ears on this one, it might really suck for all I know. Thanx.

Yeah, it really sucks.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!

Oh, I kill me.

:D

Ooooh, dude, this is sweet!!, You have some guttural grit in the bass guitar!! If I were tweaking, I'd be adding a little air on the drums, specifically the snare, just a tiny bit more crackle. And, I'd be making the lead vocal bigger. Man, you got the sidestick clean! Like buttah!!! Don't touch the bass or kick drum.

Dude, where are you pulling these fooking songs from! This is a KICKASS TUNE!!!!!!!!!!! love the triplet thing. LOVE IT!!! LOVE IT!!!!! Great mood transitions.

Is that a delay I hear on your voice?????????????

Boy, THAT had to hurt. Felt good after, though, didn't it!! :D :D :D

Dude, this RULES. You are a mutant hamster in overalls. This is my favorite song of yours. HOW FOOKING COOL!!!!

What version of Wavelab do you use? I've had verison 4 since it came out and have only used it to (what I call 'master') completed songs that I record in GTP3. All I do is apply a denoiser, a declicker and a bit of stereo expander here and there.

There's so much more it can do, but I never get the time to really look into it. Then again, I rarely get the time to even record anything either.

Favorite of mine??? Whoah!!! I didn't think it was that good, but THANX!!

I've been working on this one for a little while, had that guitar riff for a long time and knew it would make a good part of a song one day. I was actually going to really work it and hopefully finish writing and recording it last week, but then "Mundane Monday" just wrote itself in my head one day, so I laid that one down before I forgot it. So, you could have actually mixed this one if I did things in the order they were supposed to be done...sorry.:)

More air on the snare? OK, I actually boosted 6.5 and up on the snare, which I have never done. I only have a 3-band and I usually used the high shelf to cut 4k. this time I used the middle band (parametric) to hone in on and cut 4k, and then used the shelf to boost everything over 6.5k. Should I have went for a higher frequency?

There is delay on my voice, but it was begging for it in that part. I even have flanger on the back ups? Can you believe it...???

You're a bad influence on me...next tune, I'll be doing a square wave Moog solo...!!!

I have version 4 also. Like you, I used to just bring in already mixed tunes to add the L1 and that's about it. But I think I really want to get to know it now. Seems there's sooo much you can do with it.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

:)

To my ear, it sounds like it's between 6.3KHz and 8KHz on the boost for the drums... You gotta find a plugin somewhere... :)

It's really cool that someone is so willing to take suggestions from essentially perfect strangers.

The intro sounds like Rami Hendrix. Cool chunky guitar sound after that. Man I think your guitars sound better and better every time you post something.

There's something about the vocals that they aren't as clear as usual. I'm not sure if they're too quiet or if somethings getting in the way.

I love the little slow down jam at 1:46, nice songwriting. Vocals sound just fine there... sounds like you're into the delay there, sounds good. Then you start rocking again AND the first Rami death metal scream I've heard, nice. Love that part "dirty water... dirty water" right there. Very catchy stuff.

You've probably never heard this before in your life Rami, but you are a mutant hamster in overalls! :p

Good song man, catchy catchy catchy. There's something about the song, it has some extra style and changes going on. I dig ;)

Oh yeah, WaveLab Lite came with my soundcard, I might give that a try now.

Llarion...Plug-ins aren't the problem. The problem is that my PC can't handle me mixing all the tracks in it. So by the time the music gets to my PC, it's a stereo master. Actually, if I wasn't so lazy, I could bring in a snare track, process it, then bring it back out...but now I'm just talking crazy talk. :)

Thanx Snaker...I can bring the vocals up in the heavier part, you're probably right...But I'd have to bring them back down for the mellower parts. Thanx duder.

Sure... yeah on my system at least they sounded a bit buried on the heavier parts and perfect on the mellower parts.

Love the one note scream before the verses start. Especially before:
"Dirty water I've been down before"
and before:
"Dirty water still seducing me"

Really love the mellow parts. Love the vocals on those parts.
But you sold out on the "no more" backing vocals by processing them. :p Dirty water makin' you use the FX rack more than before, huh? - sorry couldn't resist.

I do agree I would like to hear the verse vocals a little louder. Just a tad. Love the "big" sound on the drums.

And yes, your guitar playing is really nice. Much better than I can play. :) All I need is practice. But I'm here practicing mixing. Somedays, I'm practicing stock picking on the market. Somedays, I'm coding some new program. Somedays, I'm just watching reruns of friends on the computer. The practicing the guitar part is cool if I remember it but then I start digging my "Play leads faster" recipe books and get sidetracked with the CDs that come with the books.... on and on and on and on....

Thanx Bubba...By the way, those are real drums, just in case you didn't know that. 4 mics, very simple set up. I'm just mentioning that because you mentioned something about real drums in the other thread. :)

I didn't process anything on the "no more"...I just sang it twice, it's simply doubled. In fact, that's probably the one part in the song where I REMOVED all processing.

Thanx for the comliment on my guitar playing. It's not my first instrument, I'm a drummer, so I'm sure there are alot of guitar players who would do a much better job than I do on my stuff.

Nice and heavy sounds, Rami. Cool tune. Love how you put this together.
Sweet.

awesome song man, sounds great! the riff and drums sounds kinda Audioslave/RATM, like funk but still hard rockin'. i love it, good overall performance and production. :D

jesus christ, i'm loving this song.

the riffs, and everything, awesome stuff.

1 hour and 7 minutes remaining....

Gotta love old phone lines.

What are you all doing up this late/early????

Dogman, Zed, Anthrax...Thanx alot guys. I'm glad it works. I appreciate the comments. It's a little different than my usual style (if I hactually have one), so I really wasn't sure.

Chris, you're on dial-up? It must have taken you a year and a half to get those Wav files!!!

Hey Rami, great song. Very hot guitar and drums. The gtr at 3:55... very nice line, also the leap at 2:26. I like the use of verb on the tune.

Tim

Sounds real good Rami. Slight changes could be made to make that tight rythym sound tighter by playing with the kik drum a little. Bring it up maybe add some more punch (not too much like heavy metal though). Maybe place a hi pass on the kik also, just a little.
Not sure what you mean by you usd Wavelab for this. At first I thought you were using it for mastering, but it sounds like you used it for mixing? is that right?

I use Wavlab for mixing as its all i have. I call it blind mixing becuase I need to apply the fxs on the tracks seperately without knowing what it sounds like "in the mix". Is this what you are doing now?

Eck

No, I would never do that. I used it for Mastering. I mix in my TASCAM. I just never used Wavelab to do more than check the volume of my mix before.

Nice job, Rami! I'm really digging this. Nice chops. I've listened twice and can't come up with anything to help, only a bunch of questions on what you did here and what you did there. When I finish the 'book' I'll post. ;)

Great!!!!!
