Hey guys, i just bought a Roland digital workstation (8 tracks) off ebay ....

here is the song its called
Ain't got you

last nite me and my friend made this song .... had 4 mics, an sm 58, sennheiser e845 and 2 other crappy ones....

the acoustic guitar was recorded using one of the crap mics so the sound isn't great .....can u please let me know what you think of my mix....and i'll admit i can't sing very well :)

The guitar doesn't sound too bad, but it's hard to tell because it's too wet.

The vocals need pulled out a little more, they're not that bad! Roll off the low end, sounds like too much proximity effect on the vocals, too boomy. It's hard to understand them.
That lead guitar sounds good! You definitly need to turn up the bass.

How'd you do the drums? Sounds like they need turned up, especially kick and snare.

I see you have other stuff on your site. How'd you record before getting the roland?

before i got the roland, I miced my marshall amp using a sennheiser e 845 into an alesis 8 channel mixer ....and went through the line in on my computer ....

the main reason i got the roland vs880 was so i could record my drummer and our bands rehearsals as its not possible to do that with my computer as there is only 1 input ....

the reason i didn't turn the volume of the vocals up is because i recorded them when i was drunk and was trying to sound like Bob Dylan ...lol i'm not a singer ....plus I'm Irish ...probably the reason you couldn't understand the lyrics....

Yeah i agree about the drums ....i used three mics - one on snare, one on kick and one overhead ....but i think i messed around with them too much when i transfered them to the PC and added too much reverb and stuff

Thanks for the feedback prestomation... :)
