Not recording them of course!
I am not a drummer. I do not play the drums. I am, however, very adaptable. I set up my friends kit (the heads are two years old or so and I suck at tuning) and played around with this, laid some guitar and bass over it using Amplitube 2. It's pretty cool. I was in a hurry so I just did one take of everything. It's pretty much jamming with myself.
This is my first try at using my Eletro-Voice N/D868 on anything. I used it on the kick though I purchased it for floor tom, and I'm happy with it especially since it only cost me $100. I didn't EQ it at all except for cutting above 9khz and below 40hz. It sounded like ass in the middle of the drum, so I put it closer to the reso head and down close to the shell.
The thing I am most happy with about this recording is that I finally backed off my tom mics since I have stands to use instead of clips now, and got...Well, a decent tom sound out of coated heads, something I haven't been able to achieve.
No more blabbing. Sorry.
Jam!
Suggestions? Sounds good to me at 6:00 a.m. on no sleep!
