It didn't take me very long; they're not mine. But that's a good question for the owner of them...

Why do we love them so?

For me, it's because I think the microphone and microphone placement is going have the "best" influence on the sound you're capturing; given you have the instrument and room you want, and good connections. Next "best" would probably be the preamp and then maybe the media?

This all just my opinion.

If it was to me, then you can use the search function here to search the MP3 Forum to find the mp3s I've posted.

But I must say that NON of those recordings were done with "the right mics for the right instrument" (IMHO).
