I am completely new to this recording deal (I'm 18). Ive been playing guitar, bass, drums and piano for a while now and im ready to start putting all my stuff on a disk. THIS IS MY QUESTION: I have an original '74 Les Paul GoldTop Deluxe and an original '81 Mesa Boogie Mark II 100 Watt. Should I mic this setup into a mixer since the boogie has no out? I was thinking about just using a couple pedals then into the mixer? What do you think?

with a good cab and a good mic it should sound really nice

mic it AND use the direct in ... and mix it to your liking.

the mic'd part will give you the distortion and ballsy sound, the DI will give you definition and crispyness (you might want to keep the DI down, like a 20:80 biased towards the mic)

take it from there and keep us posted
