ive seen a few songs posted in the past, paticularly TripleM's latest, written for one's kids, so heres mine....written a year or two ago.....decided to throw together a quick demo of it.....

threw together one of my famous 1-take demos.....Fruity Loops drums.....Yamaha Pacifica and Fender Squier Affinity bass thru a J-Station, and vocals with a SM57 (without pop filter:D :p )......

anywho, im not exactly looking for mix comments, though i will entertain songwriting comments and production suggestions for when i do the real demo.......

on to the mp3 fiasco....my CD burner was acting up and i dont have a modem on my recording computer, so i had to split the mp3 into 4 pieces, save on a floppy, bring it to internet computer and piece it together, so will will hear those edits.....

(YOU WILL ALWAYS BE) MY ANGEL

I remember the day
You came into the world
A gift from up above
Daddy's little girl
Through the years Ive watched you
Now i cant believe my eyes
Daddys girl is all grown up
Its so funny how time flies

I helped you learn to walk and talk
Never thinking of the day
That you would have to say goodbye
Then turn and walk away

You will always be my angel
No matter where you fly
You will always be my angel
Until the end of time

As we walk down the aisle
Hand in hand side by side
The tears fill our eyes
Like so many times we cried
Through the good and the bad
Weve always been best friends
And years or miles or nothing else
Will ever let them end

And looking back I cant help
As i give your hand away
To see how blessed my life has been
How proud I am to say

Repeat Chorus

Could you enable a download for it? I've got my file associations all screwed up, and i can't listen unless I can download it.

Thanks

I think your strong point IS the songwriting. Not to comment on mix suggestions, as I think when you delve past a ruffie demo, you'll probably come up with some ideas that will get you past your "demo" feel. Besides the occasional out of tune vocal, the song is good. I'll even notice the Yammie remained basically in tune and sounded pretty decent thru the J.....but I didn't say that:eek:

I suppose this could be a song for one of those TV commercials for life insurance, or whatever. But, besides the obvious tone and style of the lyrics, they're not too bad.

oh...I'da used a POD instead!!! yuck, yuck...

okay...I'm about to seriously break my computer... I may have to listen at work... I'll be back.

mixmkr, for the real deal ill tune my guitar first.....:D :p now there are no helping the vocals.......

chris, i just enabled download.....

its a good song model, i like the intro thing. good picking, I like your guitar rythmn. its in the ruff, so i wont say anything bout the mix. But this could turn out be a real nice one.

very heartfelt.....nice changes.........i like melody based solo........i look forward to hearing what you do with it...........nice work

The song is pretty solid, and I know you mean it and that means a lot.

Might I make one condesending suggestion? When you're playing lead, try to make that left hand work a little harder. Never just hit a note and hold it...no matter how in tune you think you are, it'll always a little off and mechanical.

Good work!

Nice song Gidge. That one brings back memories. I already went through walking both of my daughters down the isle. Now I have to write songs about grandkids. :) We've got four with one more in the oven.

Any song that reminds me of the good things in my life is a good song in my book. Thanks for posting it.

You know, my Dad's idea of 'music' was the crap they play right before the commercial break on A.M. talk radio. Needless to say, I don't have a lot of songs that were written about/for me. :D :D

Save this. Save the later "polished" version, save the lyric sheet...save all of it for her. I've tried to write songs like this, but I've never been able to finish one... I think my daughter actually holds it against me that I haven't written a tune about her.

Very nice, man...(and turn the kick down on the next one...SORRY!!).

:D

I basically agree with all the other comments.. (especially mixmkr's)

very nice sentiment..

I must add this, that is not what I expected you to look like at all!

:D

I can't listen right now. Damn, the lyrics are touching. I'll get to this as soon as I can. Looking forward to it.

Hey Gidge,
...Very nice songwriting man. ....and it conveys how a dad feels about his little girl very nicely. Yeah, she's gonna love you for this when she's all grown up. Nice job Gidge. Im looking forward to your finished version of this.

try this....you will have to copy the link and paste it into the browser window for it to open......

and to everyone who has commented, it is much appreciated.....

that was nice. i think the drums could be a little less dry. they stand out in the mix. i also think you might add some harmony in the chorus.

nice mix. more level on the lead guitar would have really added a climactic point. I think the amount of reverb can work as long as you add some more pre-delay so that the vocals don't get lost, but you still retain the space. Also, add some 'verb to the snare to add that big ballad sound.

nice song over all and excellent lyrics. I'm about to jump on the bandwagon and post a daughter tune as well! I'm such a follower...

Nice song Mike, great to hear you posting some stuff!

Really heartfelt lyrics,I don't even want to think about the day I have to give my baby away!:(

I dug the guitar tones you got,I can't do that with my J Station, must be broke or sumpin!:D
I like the little Jimmy Hendrix wedding march line you slipped in there, cool touch!

If I could make a suggestion on the vocals,do what I did.
Double them.
Really helped me out a lot,I may have a voice after all!

Looking foward to hearing your work on this.
Good potential there!

Thanks,
Pete
