Muddy Waters is my biggest musical influence. The racial gap that his music has bridged is enormous.IMO, he is a cat that should be recognized during BHM.Please enjoy my humble attempt at paying tribute to a really kick ass bluesman! The song title is
"Im ready".

Would really apreciate some mix/EQ ideas.

Muddy Waters eh?

I just gotta' check this out as soon as I get home from work!!! ;)

Hey man, I like. Your recordings have gotten sooo much better than the first one I heard many many months ago. Seems like I remember you having the kick panned hard left or something, lol. At any rate, this is cool.

Picky Shit - I actually don't dig the stereo spread...gits seem a little too wide for such an intimate piece, but that's a picky taste thing.

Also, at 2:49 and 2:57, there's a couple of low endyish POPS - don't know what caused it, because these gits don't sound DI'd at all...maybe an edit? It's like the sound that an acoustic makes when you unplug it, but I know that's not it.

Growl On Mange,
Nobody

Shep u mofo, this joint was on point!!! I'm really diggin' your scruffy singin style and the Wee-Zee-Anna down-home,gumbo-blues solo was TITE!!!

I'm sorry, I can't offer any recording advice as I put aside my critical ears and donned my "plain-ole enjoy the good-@ss tune" ears! Music like this needs no critiquing! Just sit back, relax and chill!!

And that's exactly what I did!

MR. Q, that is the same approach I take to listening to the originals! Thanks for the listen man.

I don't know why I didn't check this out earlier?

This was great, Shep!:)

Very cool pickin' n' growlin'!

I admire anyone who can do a solo on an acoustic guitar and not be able to hind behind 50 stomp boxes to smooth shit out.

Nice job!

As for the vocal, excellent presentation. Is this your natural voice? Either way, great performance.

Recording wise, the signal chain seems a little old school in that I was hearing a fair degree of tape hiss. Either that or just the wind rushing between my ears?:D

Either way, nice job, man.

Cheers! :)

I recently (November?) had the pleasure of working with several of Muddy's old band members (to wit, Johnson, Portnoy, Margolin, Smith, Jones... I'm missing someone...?) and this song came into play at one point... Bob Margolin had the vocal on it. I don't often get "star struck" around people, but I actually pulled out my "autograph" guitar for this bunch...

I really like your vocal on this along with the overall presentation in general. Mind if I DL?

Technically, the only thing that's tugging at my ear is a weird high-end phasy thing... Could just be the MP3 encoder...

Agreed though, with tunes like this it's easy to just ignore the technical aspect and just listen to the damn tune. A little tape hiss only adds to the "authenticity" in this case.

Thanks for posting this -

Thanks for listening everyone.
I think what some of you are describing as "tape hiss" is my
fridge in the back ground.
You see,my wife went to england for a week and I turned the
living room into "Electric Sheppard Land".My house has an
open floor plan,so that damn fridge is in everything that I
recorded last week.Because of that I didnt bother to do any
edits on this tune.
M.M.,please feel free to D.L.

Record the fridge by itself and mix it in out of phase. :D

Any mic placement tips?I've heard that you should never point the mic directly at the compressor.
