For 3 years I used the Edirol UM-1s without a glitch; about a week or two ago it decides not to work. So I tryied to reinstall it but failed, so then I bought a Edirol UM-1x, same problem, then I bought a MIDIman MIDISport 1x1, same problem, -my computer tells me this: "An Error Occured During Installation Of The Device" - "The System Cannot Find The File Specified". This happens when I connect the USB cable and use the Found New Hardware Wizard. I see the files being transfered but at the very end it gives me the above message.

I checked my USB ports and they are fine.

What is going on here?!?

I think you've found Windows great MME device "gotcha" which frequently leads to disappearing USB drivers and the inability to install anymore.
M-audio and Evolution have a "fix" utility - I don't know about Edirol.
Try www.midiman.net and do a driver search for 'midifix'. This .exe will clean out a Windows registry key that gets constipated and causes the trouble.

Then again, Midifix may well be on your Midisports drivers CD.

In future, keep a note of which USB socket you use for the device and never plug it in another one.

MidiFix didn't help, something tells me I'm just gonna have to shell out $500 to get my retarted MIDI conection to work, by means of a new mother board.
