Finally, I have the first Cd of my band released on our own label! I went to pick up the boxes with the first 580 Cd'sand it seems wonderfull! I'm reallyu nervous:)

Hope I will have luck promoting them (I am sending them to Radio stations and press) and selling them off course, because I really invested in those Cd's!

Btw, if someone is interested in experimental stoner rock, give me a PM ;)

Anyway, I will let you know what the results of my promo and selling campaign will be!

I can't even fathom how cool that must feel, and I'm really looking forward to having the same experience later this year. Congratulations, Brett.

580? That's odd... Even for an even number that's an odd number.

Maybe it's some Belgian metric thing. :D

Congrats, man! It's a great feeling to get 'em in your hands, isn't it?

Real strange feeling:)

Well, about the strange number: I ordered 500, but they warned me 'it could be a bit more', because the factory always produces a bit more to make up for peices that may be broken or something. Eventually it was about 580 Cd's.

I posted the first promo's today, curious about the response!

Congrats dude! Are you guys gonna be gigging to sell these?

Congratulations.

Now the hard work really begins, if you're not to end up with them gathering dust for the next 20 years (My experience :-( )!

It will be quite frustrating waiting for reviews to come back and so on. Some indie reviewers take up to 6 months to get round to reviewing the CDs due to the backlogue.

Good luck with it and let us know how you get on in getting rid of the 500.

thxn, I'll try my best,

Bad luck with our vocalist though, he leaves in october for a 6 month trip to Africa  I was really pissed at him for leaving at such a crucial moment.

We gigged a lot before though, so I hope we can benefit from our strong live reputation. I try to make lots of promo, and I hope I have a bit more luck wih reviews.

I'll keep you posted and thx for the support

Brett

Make sure you set up some kind of online ordering. I suggest CD Baby and also Amazon (via their Advantage program).

As for radio, do your research. Most people lose their asses on promotions like that because it's very hard to monetize.

Some radio promotion articles that might help you...

thx for the info!

Over here, there is one radio station that is really important if you want some attention as a rock band.

I send the producer several copies, he emailed me that they will discuss the playlist this thursday. I know I sohouldn't expect too much to avoid disappointment, but I do feel a bit like I am about to take a graduation exam:)

You should definately use cd baby. They have a long standing reputation for giving a lot back to the music community. They donate money constantly to help musicians and they personally listen to every cd that comes their way. Great Company!

Yeah, I heared lot of great stuff about them, but is it sensible to use them as a European?

I mean, I think I'll pay shit to let my Cd's ship to the US, while, let's be honest, there is a chance I'll sell no Cd's. Or how many ppl buy Cd's of a band that nobody ever heared of?

Are there any European alternatives?

CD Baby ships worldwide, but they'll be especially great for you in the US since you'll have somebody to get your CDs out over here.

rofl David... I read your website and I had a good laugh, thank you. I wish you alot of morons so you can make even more cash more rapidly and with less efforts than ever before! My wishes are usually 350$ each so we'll agree that for FREE it's a STEAL!
