My CD has finally arrived!

i've played the CD a couple or three times and can honestly say it's terrific.
Some of the songs are almost old friends after listening on HR & the odd MP3 dropped into the player on the way.
The album certainly makes the ppoint taht people who post in the MP3 clinic kearn a fair bit on the way through. It also demonstrates that Armi's rant about the co=operation/creative partnershipp paying dividends is correct. Some quite unusual ideas about harmonies and/or arrangements have shone light on unifrmly top shelf tunes.

I did the bandcamp thing for digital & Kunaki for physical with the Pygmy Beat CD. Though I left it as CD only for three months before offering the dig with bonuses like a couple of vids etc.
I've had several people pay significantly more that the asking price, ($7) on bandcamp for a variety of reasons. I uploaded in Flac but most format types are managed on the site. It also allows previews of tracks which is a handy sales tool.

I use tunecore to distribute to the big online sites, and also offer MP3s, FLAC, and sometimes self produced CDs through bandcamp (naturally with 'different price points' since bandcamp isn't raping me on each sale ). I get more downloads from bandcamp. Sometimes people pay more than the asking price as ray mentioned.

Not that I get many sales overall. It's just there in case someone wants it. And it really doesn't take long and unless bandcamp goes under, will stay available indefinitely. Tunecore only does yearly subscriptions and is expensive (IMO) to renew unless you're actually moving some music on amazon or itunes.

Just checked google and the bandcamp page for one of my albums from a few years ago comes up on the first page of results (last item listed, but still not bad for zero advertising). Checked another album and the bandcamp page came up first on google.

Yeah, I just saw that thanks Pinky... also checked in on local (Australian) itunes and it's at the "normal" inflated price of $16.99 - not doing us any favours there..

Probably hasn't even left the country yet. You'll be pleased to know that I rented an especially quick and reliable turtle as transport across the waves Chili, although I'm not overly clear on what happens when it gets to the coast...

Ray was quite complimentary after his first listen

God knows no-one I've flogged them to at work has probably even taken it home yet, let alone listened. Probably easier for all of us that way!

Bandcamp is definitely the way to go to do download-only distribution, as mentioned you get 90% of all the money, it's incredibly easy to set up, but like most any online site, you've got to do the promotion yourself.

From your comments about the artwork, I'm guessing you went with one of those replication services - I was looking at those until I saw the artwork 'layer' requirements stuff - WTF, you can't just use a JPG?
Looks good in the digipac packaging.

Should be able to use a jpg. I'm pretty sure that's what I used for Kunaki. 5" x 5" with 300dpi resolution. I don't remember the exact format, pretty sure it was a jpg, but definitely no layers.

Yes, but not for replication places like discmakers. They seem to offer some great deals (and duplication, too, for smaller quantities), but they hit you for the things like making the artwork fit their requirements.

"Proper" full colour printing is done in layers.. hence the CYMK requirement. I thought of attempting to do using the Photoshop of the girl who sits next to me at work, but in the end I thought it was better to just let them do it, and they could charge me for it - it wasn't that much in the scheme of things.

The final result does look very nice, and I'm getting lots of "wow" comments when I actually give people a copy.

Kunaki use a 300dpi jpg as Chilli said - I haven't actually set it up on Kunaki and probably won't bother - and I had to make a new square cover for the CD Baby artwork which I just did from the proper artwork that the replication company did for me, and by borrowing the aforementioned Photoshop for a few minutes. Easy.

Still listening. Some songs on here I haven't heard before. I like that.... surprises.

So, I ripped it to WMP already, but I have to enter the song titles manually and I can't read the small fonts. ha ha ha .... getting old sucks!!!
