this mix sounds good in my ears 'cept for two (or more?) toms that sound like they sneeked past the limiter : very boomy and way louder then the rest. which is a shame since the rest is all very well mixed.

Thanks.
yeah I totally forgot to fix the tom levels as my brain was hurtin by that point!
Apreciate your feedback.
Ive dones some more tweaks and im gona post again soonish.

yes the tops are a biggy, the bass is perhaps a bit too fat, i would have a quick little fade in at the intro to make it sound (sortof) like you just started betting feadback from a live preformance. instead of smack in your face, i mean, i like when songs punch me in the face but that was more a slap... you nead to give it a 1/4 of a second or so to curl it's fists.

hope this helps

Cheers Nick for your response.
There is no bass in this song yet, just 1 guitar so far.
If you mean the lo end then you could be right on that one, ill check it over again.

This is just a sample of the song. The wong has a nice 1 minute intro before it whacks into the chorus.

Cheers,
Eck

sorry, i meant the bass drum, my bad for being unclear (man, bass has way to many meanings) it could be indead the low end, but it sounded to me it was the bass drum that stuck out.

Hey eck !! How is all with you ?

When you add the second guitar, are you panning more right with it?

I think the intro guitar would sound good if it were left/right panned and thickened up a bit with the feedback/sustain....just to beef it up.

Like the tone on the axe...everything sounds in need of coming up in the mix, except the tom/toms. ;) I know, you know about that. :D

The kick is all but gone in the mix too. Did you have one?

Other than that, this sounds to be a good start for an eck tune.

It sounds pretty good on headphones, but there's something bugging me about the snare. It's like there's a 2nd hit just after the first each time. Did you compress it hard? Otherwise, the guitars sound good

all has been mentioned that i had to add.....soooo.....i'm just typing now to be typing:)

i agree with the toms comments. but it sounds like you got a good groove going on :)

What's making the slappy rattle sound in the drums? It's very distracting.
Did I mention the guitars souond fine but need a bit of meat?

Cool.
That was the sound I was going for. I was trying to get the kick as fat as I could. :)

Yeah not bad. Long time and that! Hope your doing good.

What I did was limit the master out which as everyone knows hides the drums, expecially the kick drum, so Ill most likely boost the kick a bit next time. Yeah the guitar at the start is going to be centred or close to centred anyway. I usually pan the guitars this way for nice seperation but still a nice centred meat also.

Guitar1 L: 100L Guitar1 R: 30R
Guitar2:L:30L Guitar2 R:100R

The guitars that are panned 30 are about half the volume of the ones that are panned 100. This gives a wide stereo spread but still keeps a nice meatyness in the middle.

Cheers.

I did compress the snare a good bit but still leaving enough to keep nice transients. I cant hear the 2nd hit on the snare. The kick drum hits directly after alot of the snare hits but I cant hear any snare.

I cant hear the slappy rattle sound. Is it all the way through the song or at any bits in particular?
Once the bass guitar is in I will be able to get more meat for the guitars. Only 1 of the guitars is on the song at the moment so it will be meatier with the 2 guitars. The guitar thats on it at the moment is the more present tone and the other guitar to be added is not so present but has a nice lo end drone.

Cheers,
Eck

I think the rattling sound is the snare maybe. I notice it too.

Ahhh. I hear it.
IT happens when the drummer does snare rolls. Thats the snare rattle rattleing. :) I like it.

Cheers,
Eck

Did you use clips? Sometimes that happens. I remember I had to buy stands one time becuase for the sound I wanted the gain the the mics was higher so the vibrations would go through and rattling would go through.

Yeah I used mic stand clips. The ones that come with the SM57s.
