This was made very fast just one or two takes. What do you think, please all comments are welcome. This homerecording project needs to grow up and I need to improve my skills so what´s better than your tips and suggestions.

Here´s the link

Thanks in advance

Ok, I'll bite, since we're tilted sort'a bluesy around here. :)
Groove.
Especially and at the very least, the first few beats. (I had a vocal coach show me how to hit a pitch dead on; 'Think it -and sound it.' Same goes for tempo, everyone needs to agree before the song starts. :D
Sounds like someone (maybe bass) is on the verge of playing straight eighths. The blues shuffle is about gone. Rhythm guit is rushing like mad.
Love the vocal style. Lead sounds nice.
Cheers

mixsit's right on. This type of music has got to have the groove. It's got to snap and crakle and pop.

The vocalist has a few pitch problems that come thru loud and clear when close-mic'd and dry like that. He also needs an assist from the hi-hat (4's) during the stops to stay on time (or a click in headphones).

The bass sounds pretty OK to me - he uses half notes alot which gives control of the shuffle groove to the drummer more or less - that's fine. When he does shuffle the bass line it sounds ok to me.

The band sounds mostly fine to me - I'd get the singer to listen to some more Chicago blues stuff so he can get his 'straight' and 'shuffle' feel happening at the right time. For example - during the stops you have to count straight time but sing to a shuffle that swings a bit too...

It ain't nuthin but a party ! Great Fun - keep up the good work

Thanks a lot for listening.

I´m with you about the vocals, his not our main vocalist, he´s doing just 4-5 songs on the show, and this was his second recording experience. We decided to go with this cause he´s gonna perform it live, and the more he play it the more confident he will be.
I´ll check which of the two rythm guitars is running. There are some time problems in the band that we need to work on. I played this with the orignal song as metronome, I put the drums over, don´t know if this is good or not, but I did it anyway, then we do the bass line, guitars, and vocals.
We´re planning to record 8 or 10 songs and put them on CD, then we will offer to the people that come to see our show. What would you say??? this song is ok for that matter, should I put it on CD or not.

Thanks for all your comments :)

I vote for re-doing the vocals on this one - put a click in the vocalists headset - or electric shock, hehe.

Best of all worlds would be to record the entire band live doing it's thing - that way you get more ambience in the recording and if everybody has the feel the whole band will shuffle on down the road. It's a bit different style of recording but one of my favorites. The folks that receive the CD will appreciate the live sound too since that's how they will remember you. That may not fit in to your timetable though.

My 2 cents... :)
