Wow. Just wow. I shocked myself with how good this mix came out.

The band's name is Arkasino. They need all the support they can get, so find them on myspace and add em!!

Took us 8 hours to record and mix. They're a 2-piece.

On with the mix, I really like the drums and bass.

I had unknowingly turned the bass-knob down all the way for vocals so I had to digitize my way into making them have some meat.

The guitars have a very raw sound to them. The amp they used to record was a Fender Tube. Delicious for this kind of music. For the breakdown, I let them use my Crate, which was just fantastic for adding that "boost" in power and energy.

We also added in a couple of bass-drops. Yum. Turn up your subwoofers!!

The genre is very indie I'd say.

What do you think??! Comments!!!

Love the vocals but not much else. Bass knob on the vocals? What do you mean, you recorded them through a guitar amp? Sorry I'm a little confused.

Snares not crackin loud enough for me, and cymbals sound a little distant. Kick's got no balls, but it does sound like its on the right track for the style of playing.

Nice harmonies!

Guitar tones not too bad, good work there.

Whats that in the background, strings or organ or something? I can't tell. Right before the breakdown.

Breakdown guitars sound really cool.

Vocals really stand out, but the drums need work.

Hope I helped.

You're shocked at how good this mix came out?

What the hell are you monitoring with? Earbuds?

It's all too-loud crappy vocals, screechy wide guitars, and a mush blob of bass and bad sounding drums in the middle.

The vocals, especially the singing ones, are too loud. I think they were recorded and processed pretty well for this kind of music, but they're sitting too far out front. I think if you turn them down some, the rest of the mix might be easier to even out.

On the mixer I used, I was previously recording an acoustic track that we never used later on and I had turned the low frequencies on the built in EQ all the way down for one of the mics. I forgot to put the EQ back to its default settings.

Also, before the breakdown I believe that was a guitar.

You're joking, right????

Or are you just typing that because the band is there with you and you want to encourage them????

No offense, man, but it sounds like a cluster-fuck, except for the vocals, and that's only because they're too loud. What is it about the drums that you like, exactly?

Sounds like the band you recorded likes Saosin or the Mars Volta.

Vocals need to come down big time let the music do some of the talking.

The screamy vocals are way too dry. You can hear the dude screaming in your bedroom.

Careful with the auto-tune, it can do some funny things and you really don't need to keep it on the whole time. Just use it on things that aren't ... in tune.

I think you can turn this mix into something better. It doesn't sound horribly tracked, it sounds poorly mixed. Listen to other mixes by other emo screamo pop bands and you should soon start to hear the differences in balances.

Good luck, I'd like to hear your remixes.
