I don't know anything about speakers and I need to put new ones in my old amp. The amp is a 1964 50 watt Fender Bassman 2x12 piggyback (blond). Last time I used the Vin 30s, but this time I'd like something with a little more bite.

I am no guitar player, but my roomate has a 72 Twin Reverb that he just put some celestion greenbacks in. They sounded pretty darn good. He put vintage 30's in though because the green backs were only 25 watts. His Twin is customized to puch 120 so he could have killed them. He dicided to go with the Vintage 30's. Celestion has Bluebacks that are more expensive, but I have no idea why.

Are they the original speakers? If so, have them worked on. Ah, hell just sell that old Fender stuff to me, it's not not a damn.

Had to say that cause the most lame transaction I've ever made was trading a blond '63 vibrolux for a Boss Dr. Rhythm and I'd like to get an old piece of gear back to feel better about it.

Nah, when he bought it, it didnt have the original speaks in it.

No, I never had the stock speakers.

I'm leaning to the Greenbacks, but like I said, I don't know anything about speakers. I'v also looked into JBL's, but they cost about twice as much as the others. And, there's a guy in town that has his own brand of speakers and he's been around for about 20 years so I think I'll pay him a visit.

I had one and I put 30's in it also..Sounded cool..Look into Jensens or Utah's{don't know if they still make them} I think they were the original suppliers for Fender back in the day..Great amp, the early 60's Bassmen

I guess I'd pop some Jensens in there if the original sound is what you're after.

Jensens are something to think about. Bdgr and I found some today on ebay. I've read that the Jensens are not as rugged as some of the others, like the Vin 30s or the Green Backs.

I picked up a CD from Celestion at GC that has a bunck of speaks with differant amps and guitars. Jenson doesn't seem to have anything like this that I've found.
