Dead End by Ricochet - YouTube

It was recorded in a professional studio in London in which the likes of Noel Gallagher and Tinchy Stryder have also recorded at.
We've been a band for 2 years now. Started off with just drum, guitar and keyboard/male vocalist, and near the end of 2012 the female vocalist joined and no more than 2 months after that so did the bassist.
ENJOY!

p.s. Look at the comment on youtube: jack is the drummer and flora is this girl who he "messed around with" and its funny because he keeps on making up excuses as to why he hasnt asked her out yet, even though everyone knows they like each other, but we know its just because he's scared ;)

You say it was recorded in a studio in London but, seeing as this is the mp3 mixing clinic, where was it mixed? I haven't listened through my monitors, just my laptop speakers so I can't give a definitive critique although I will say I had to really strain to hear the vocals. I would definitely bring them up. I would also bring the snare down a little. Overall though it sounds good on my laptop speakers.

um, well I've never thought that, so it may be because you're listening through your laptop speakers. We havent had it mastered, but the man who mixed it, as I said, has done stuff for noel gallagher etc, and nobody else has ever mentioned about the singing.

Listening through headphones I'd say you have level issues with the lead vocal definitely... sometimes it's fine, sometimes it's a little buried - particularly at the start. Better towards the end. Sounds like it was mixed by the guitarist. :D The snare doesn't need to go down, it sounds OK to me in the quieter bits and needs to come up a touch when all the guitars are crashing... or perhaps turn the guitars down a little as they're burying the drums a bit more than I'd like to hear.

I'd definitely retrack the guitar solo... less effects and better playing, it's a bit meh in execution and concept for me.

Good catchy tune though. In the main I like it.:D

I would describe the vocal track as being a bit 'thin' myself. A underlying lower harmony would help.

Really like the tune though. :)

actually the guitar is the mixers main instrument ;) and we did only have one day.
Also yes, I did mess up the guitar solo, no one else that I play it too notices it, but on here I thought people would - and now it makes it unlistenable to me aha
and jimmy, there is actually some male harmony in the chorus if you didnt notice.

I know its not absolutely perfect - but I did know that posting it on here I would get many problems pointed out :D
