Not half bad

What gear did you use? I listened to Vocabulary. The guitar is a bit out of time when the drums come in. I dig the harmonies in the intro. The guitar sounds a little thin, nothing eq can't fix. Try and reduce around 800Hz and 5KHz and increase at around 100-200Hz and 3KHz. Not claiming to be a pro but it seems to work for me.
I'd bring the snare down a bit too.
I'm not the world best singer but it kind of sounds like the vocals in this song are held back. For a fast rock song you need to put some balls into it man.
I really like the song though :D

thanks...

I thought of doing the song a little more sung-out style, but we just kinda went through it and then did it and this sort of worked for me. i might try it that way though. i'll try what you said about the guitar-eq.

i used a mackie 1604 vlz pro for all the pre's... an AKG C2000b for the vox and acoustic guitar... and Oktava Mk012's for the overheads on the drums.

Not a bad setup. I might have to think about buying a set of those Oktava mics. The snare was a tad loud for my liking but overall I liked the sound of the drums. How did you position the overheads?

Snare is too loud.
i did however like the "directly in your face" sound you got.
There is a band i ve been listening to named Eagles of Death Metal.
They have a more refined version of the sound you have there.
I dig it on a certain level.

yeah, the snare is too loud. i posistioned the overheads one over the floor tom pointing at the snare and one over the left cymbal.
