My audio is not showing up as waveform. How do I fix this? And proper midi setup!

I'm using sonar x1 producer. I just started using it yesterday.

When I record, the audio shows up as a flat line instead of a waveform.
How do I fix this?

I'm also having trouble properly setting up midi.
Ok I have everything regarding my interface and controller(my motif xf8) properly set up.
My trouble comes when trying to use the controller as midi.
It'll actually show activity an it will "record" stuff. But there is no sound during recording and no sound at playback. I think I haven't figured out the right I/O settings.
So how do I go about this properly?
Also, when it's recording..my workstation is still playing its own sounds instead of midi sounds. How do I switch it into midi mode?

Don't know why it wouldn't be drawing but maybe the wave redraw? (Pre- 'X it was in right click clip/properties

I fixed my midi! ...now I just gotta figure out why the audio for an Audio track is showing up as a flat line and not in waveform.

If you can hear the audio when you play it back then it's just low record level. Turn it up.
