Hello all---I have a Fender Roc pro 1000 head with a marshall half cab-----Haven't used it in a bit and fired it up yesterday to play my new schecter c1 classic. Using the secondary disorition there seems to be a volumer problem. Starting off its nice and loud and then drops volume all of a sudden to something that is somewhat muffled...then 30 seconds later will bounce back up to the previous level.

This phenomena does not seem to happen with the oother distortion setting or the clean channel. Anyone familiar?

Is that a tube amp?

If so it looks like a bad preamp tube to me.

Are the Roc Pros the Solid state preamps with 12ax7 for power tubes?

They must have a hell of a time driving 4 Celestions!

:D

I believe it was touted as some kind of hybrid---some aspects solid but with tube-----not great at eiterh

A hybrid amp could have a tube preamp with a SS power amp or SS pre with tube output.

If the amp has small bottle tubes (like the 12AX7-the most common preamp tube) it would be the former.

Likewise if it has large bottle tubes (like 6L6, EL34) it would be the latter.

It could also have EL84's which are in a small dia. bottle, but are taller than 12AX7.
