Tascammer
I am very happy with Tascam service. Although I had to send it back after the initial repair, they kept good communication, personal service and i found them easy to deal with. I had no prob with phone calls and emails. they replaced the capstan motor so now its running without the noise prob I was having.

looking forward to the box at the door.

Capstan motor, huh?

Well,... that's good news, anyway! ;)

reply to Dave

Hey Dave,

Just wanted to thank you for helping me out with some of my posts. Aint no doubt you are the man when it comes to Tascams and the world of analog.

I showed a geetar player friend of mine who is a total analogger your "out of the closet pictures" and he totally went insane. I check it out now and then just for the hell of it. Although I only have two decks, theres just something about em that really gets into your skin.

for me its the blue color and the layout of everything. the sound still blows me away. when i listen to digital i hear 1s and 0s, no b.s., thats what I hear.

once it gets home i will be signing off (well, lets just say, not looking for so many answers) and recording, recording, recording.

but can I hit ya up for one more ?. I have a cd burner program called "Nero" and what is the best way to mix down from my 424 right to my computer?

I was thinking about a standalone burner, but thats a cost issue....what other gizmos do I need to be able to mix down to cd?

thanks again Dave.....

So does this mean the HR.com 4-track compilation may once again see the light of day? ;)

you got it andy

yup,

as soon as i get it back i will add drums to your tracks. its been nuts since i got the tapes. more surgeries, biz slow down, etc., etc., but now Ive got a decent mixer for drums, solid overheads, B.D. mike (audix pak) and the most dangerous thing: "a little bit of knowledge". really dug the Doors tune and Space Oddity is really gonna be a trip.

Sweet! I honestly can't even remeber what they sounded like. :o Were they just "scratch tracks" or were they supposed to be keepers? I'll have to check my notes, and maybe bring that old thread back from the grave. Take your time, anyway. Obviously, there's no huge hurry.

Glad to hear things are better.

theyre keepers

i hung on to it, because i knew once the dust settled, i would get to it. i have to add drums to two other tunes b4 yours, and then thats my next project and im looking forward to it. i just wish tascam would use air instead of ground. takes 4 ever to get here.

talk to you soon andy.

I just bumped the old thread. It looks like (according to that thread) I put the vox and guitar together on one track, so I think the intention was to redo them (ideally have someone else redo them). But either way, we'll get the drums done and then figure out the next step. Take it easy.
