My 2488 Experiences So Far

I saw that there is a tutorial DVD that one can purchase. I saw some of the clips and they looked very helpful. Have you used this?

I don't have the DVD tutorial. I've heard good things about it, though.

I'm trying to learn as much as I can on my own and from the advice of the more experienced users. I find that the more I play with the 2488 (including beating my head against that brick wall), the more I understand what I read in the manual and in other forums, and the more instinctive its operation becomes to me.

Thanks for the panning tips, they worked like a charm! For the autoroll feature, if I understand this correctly, you find the spot that needs correcting, set in and out points, then what? Please walk me through it if you don't mind. Thanks!

Disregard that last message, I was able to figure out the Autoroll/autopunch, what a cool feature! I put in a couple of punches and it was just seamless! I do have one question though. During the course of a song, is it possible to bring one track to a crescendo? For example, say you have a song with guitar, keyboards etc. There may be parts in the song where you want the keyboards to be louder and then subside back in the mix and then have the guitar come forward. Any info you may have on this will be greatly appreciated. I know the 2488 takes a picture of settings at times but not sure if you can make these types of changes.

Zaphod B........how about posting a link (soundclick-nowhereradio etc) where we can hear the results of your recording experience. The ear can tell it all. Bet you are doing lots better than you think.

I think you have to ride the faders manually to change a channel's volume - you would do this during the mastering process (after practicing beforehand!)

Hey- if I may, I just got a 788, and have found that during the bouncing of tracks you can use the physical faders to adjust levels. You can also go into the Pan window and adjust those- though it's a bit wierd on the fly!

You must, I'd think, be able to do it with the 2488? As far as actual mixdown, I'm not there yet!

Back to the faders, those changes will be recorded during the premastering process correct? That is SOOO cool! Have you had much experience with MIDI? I am interested but don't know much about it, any good info you have or websites would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, I think that's correct about fader changes during pre-mastering. I haven't had to do that with any of my levels, though, so you should experiment and see what happens.

As far as MIDI goes, I am a Neanderthal and a total idiot. No clue!

Yes, you can adjust the faders during the "Pre mix". I tried it and it works like a charm!
