mxl63 as talk back mic?

will a mxl63 work fine as a talk back mix..my boy said just to get a sm-57, but the mxl is so cheap right now..
 
it will work fine if you are willing to give up a channel. if you are using a mixer with a talk back input, most dont supply phantom. if you want a mic for talk back only, get a cheapie...ie radio shack
 
yeah, cheap as hell, all they need to do is hear you. get a sturdy one, as they do take abuse sometimes. (control room fights between the drummer and bassist over the mix, one grabs it as a weapon... don't ask....)

i can give up a channel. i'm kinda sure my board doesn't have a talk back input...i have a tascam m1600/24.. i had a cheap little AT mic i got from circut city..looked like the sm-58..sold it though..i think i'ma get the mxl63 b/c i can use it for other stuff other than just talk back..other than that, yea i'll just buy a cheap nady or behringer mic for $10
