Hey Guys,

Just a quick question. Basically I am a percussionist that is just starting out in the home recording world.

I have a Korg D16, 2 MXL603's, and an M-Audio DMP3 so far. I am looking into getting some good XLR - XLR cables so I can begin using my MXL603's but my question actually concerns the setup of the DMP3 to the D16.

Will I have to use 1/4" to 1/4" cables that run from the DMP3 to the D16 so that the MXL603's that are inputted into the DMP3 can be sent to the D16?

To me, this is the only way that it seems I can connect what is going into the DMP3 to the D16, but if there is a better way to do it I would appreciate any help.

Also any recommendations on cable and pricing for the best deals would be great.

Thanks.

Yes. The ones to use are TRS (or 'balanced') 1/4" cables - get the good ones, not the cheapest and not the best. You can find them at your local music store and can recognize them because both plugs will look like headphone plugs with Tip, Ring and Sleeve wired hot, cold and ground rather than left, right and common as they would be in a pair of headphones.
