Here's another female singer using a V77. This is an improvised track we did after the main session was finished. She asked if anyone knew "Make Me A Pallet On Your Floor". The keyboard player said "what key?", and I hit record.
The singer is the great Barbara Dane.

The recording chain is a V77 (no pop filter) straight into the board (no EQ) to A Tascam DA-38 Digital Recorder. I added some reverb later. Sax was a Shure SM7.

BTW, Barbara was 74 years old when we cut this in 2001. And I wound up using the V77 after the RCA 77DX I first tried didn't sound right on her voice.

Harvey,

Barbara sounds awesome, both vocally and technically; that's torch singing for you. Is this one available for download anywhere, by any chance?

Best,
CC

Unfortunately no, not yet. I've been dragging my feet on the project. But the live show I did of her 40 years ago is finally available on her web site.
