MXL V69 - 12AT7 tube replacement

What replacement brand of 12AT7 tube would be a quality upgrade (possibly more gain/less noise) over the stock Chinese tube for an MXL V69? Also, anyone try replacment of the 12AT7 with a 6201, 6679, 7728 or ECC801/S tube?

I upgraded with a NOS Mullard 4024/ecc81 (Mullards are used in many of the classic tube mics)...nice improvement...smoother on the high end...check out this link for a great price:

Replaced the stock tube in the V69 with a Mullard. Nice improvement - smoother, less harsh top end and possibly slightly less overall gain. End result, a better sound from an already fine mic.
