hi,

I need a low-budget LDC mic and I've narrowed it down to these two. The MXL V67G (which a dealer selling on ebay for $99.00 with shockmount and cable) or the MXL 1006 kit (which sells for $99.00 at varoius places, with a shockmount and a nice metal case). I need a mic that will sound good for vocals, acoustic guitar, and possibly to mic an electric guitar amp. For my needs, what would you recommend?

I own the 67. It is very nice on some voices, particularly those that benefit from the proximity effect boost that it provides. I LOVE it on my (mediocre at best) voice.

However, on my Washburn solid top acoustic, it sounded a bit boxy. I really needed to eq it to get usable results. There are plenty of other cheap mics (MXL 603, SP B1) that I'd recommend first on guitar.

For what it's worth,

well, actually, I already have a sennheiser e835 (counterpart to the sm57), so I guess I can always use that for the electric. I guess it just becomes a question of which of the two mics would be best for vocals AND acoustic guitar.

I personally like both my v67b and 1006, but they're very different. I have one baritone that I record who sounds frigging fantastic on the 1006, and it's been a solid voice over mic many times.
