MXL 990 Stero Condensor Mic...

I have played around with this mic as overheads on drums (borrowed) and I liked it quite a bit for doing that. There was a little bit lacking that I feel I could bring out with EQ (only had it for less then a day). Has anyone done anything else with these mics...more specifically vocals and guitar. Whats the good the bad and the in between of them? Obviously its no competitor to top end mics, so I'm not here to get into that.

While I'm thinking about it are those ART Tube Preamps worth a damn? Or just $30 wasted. I dont need anything super, my mixer has a preamp in it, but I figured it that would richen the tone of vocals (as many have claimed they do) then I would pick one up...well I guess I would need 2 for a stereo mic haha.
