mine just arrived. HOLY CRAP this thing is huge!
i'm quite disappointed they didn't include a shockmount with this mic--just a cheap stand adapter. for $250, i would've been extremely disappointed. but the hard case is really nice.
i really didn't expect this thing to be this large. all the guys here at work said "it gives that larger than life sound" and dildo jokes soon ensued.
can anyone recommend a decent shockmount for this thing? i'm gonna be trying the ones i've got for my V67 and V77, just to see.
i'll report my thoughts this weekend. i've got some acoustic guitar and vocals to record.

well, got about 30 minutes with it last night, and then another hour so far today, exclusively limited to vocals. and i REALLY liked what i was hearing. it's rich, round, smooth and fat. very big sound coming out of this mic. i had to do a double take, b/c no mic has ever made my voice sound big, rich or fat. this mic is a winner for me in that department
i hesitate to use the word "warm", but it'd be warranted here. definitely very smooth and i'd even call it "kinda dark" in that it doesn't have that high-end stridency that a lot of today's mics have.
it's definitely colored--i'd say it's a point/counterpoint with my V77, with the V77 being the "clean, clear and neutral".
the stand mount SUCKS ASS. i need to source a shockmount for this mic--i'm very disappointed that one wasn't included.
for the buck-fiddy i paid for it, it FAR out-performs its price. looking forward to using it on acoustic guitar tonight.
