Mxl 9090

Help? New user, but i've been browsing these boards, doing research. I can't find much more than cryptic info on this mic. It *appears* to simply be a rebranded, not-as-pretty v67i? does anyone know for sure? i think they (used to) sell these at GC and such, but does anyone have a clue if they pull the "best" ones to make into 67s, and send the rest for these, or something? just curious, and you guys seem to know your stuff.

Don't know for sure but they both have the same features.
Maybe the V67i is the new and improved version of the 9090.

other way around the 9090 is a re-branded v67i and it has better components and a single layer head basket, it's like your getting a bit of a mod out of the 9090 stock

I bought a 9090 a few years back, and then two more on sale (I think for $70 or $80). Still a bargain at the current $100. If you want a V67, this is a hard mic to beat. All the extras noted, identical specs as the V67i, and I understand less expensive to mod (see post above). Not as pretty at the V67g or i but a sleeper of a bargain. Aside from the look of the V67g, I can't justify purchasing a V67g over this mic, let alone a V67i.

P.S.: I failed to mention that it comes with a molded case, not a box like the V67g.
