I'm mailing my extra MXL 604 (the one w/ the broken omni capsule) to a radio newscaster friend of mine who is trying to get freelance newsreading / podcasting work.

Any advice for placement and post prod for her (a rank newbie)?

I think she's going to be building TimObrien's PVC vocal booth. The mic still has its little windscreen, too.

I'm guessing she'll use my cubase LE.

A pop filter and a little off-axis, about 1 foot away would be my first try. Always worth experimenting, though.

The pop filter is a must. That mike is really sensitive to plosives.

In some cases, with a mic that is sensitive to plosives, and small diaphragm mics are at the head of the list, I recommend *2* pop filters, 2-3" apart. Seriously, one may not be enough.-Richie

So I'm not sending my pop filter to my friend. Maybe this mic isn't so great for that applicaiton. Time to research other mics, I guess.
