I have been hearing mixed results of peoples recommendations between the two, so what would you guys recommend for me to use for drums in the regular "home" acoustics for overhead cymbals and toms?

I forgot to say, I'm going for a Alternative kind of sound in most of the recordings. Getting both highs and lows.

Like a lot of Chinese condensers, the 435 can be somewhat variable. One thing that is consistent, though, is that the sound is pretty bright. It's a great mic for modding, though, since you can buy them used for next to nothing. I bought mine for about $35.

I suspect if you swap out all the dipped tantalum caps with poly or mylar, they'd give a much nicer tone. Then, swap the capsule with a Peluso. :D

I had a feeling there would be a down fall due to the location of manufacturing, but there are always trade off's so what would you guys recommend for a in home setup.
