I have a motu 896 interface and want to know if I can get a better interface with 8 in's and out's.Which one? Also does a sound card mater if I have the Motu 896. Please tell me one. Thanx all.

MOTU is a really nice product. I think that if you go from your 896 Firewire systems to a cheap soundcard, that you'll loose quality. You are also asking a generic question, without listing specifics.metaljoseph said:

In PCI you have the MOTU products like the HD192 with 12/12 (very nice), then there is the M-Audio Delta 1010 (10 Input 10 outputs), or there is the E-MU cards (I'm not sure which one has 8/8).
