If you know any, please feel free to help me out. Im trying to get a feel for digital, and analog. Maybe combining both would work, but if it doesnt fit then thats what Im here to find out. I was just thinking about production made by analog equipment, so if you know artists that I could find their music on the i-net. Please, let me know, thanks in advance!

Lenny Kravitz... but I don't know if you're going to find much on the web.......!

hi skye,

many of the bands i listen to are steeped in home recording via analog....

try american analog set, i believe on tigerstyle records now...i know they record on a half inch 8-track....very smooth sounds

also try the apples in stereo, on elephant six records. most of the bands on this label are analog.

the aisler set on slumberland records records on an otari half inch 8 track..

and hoboken's famed yo la tengo have recorded a bunch of stuff on a 2 inch machine at water music over the past 10 plus years, this is a pro studio though...
very warm recordings !!

the list could go on! is this what you're looking for?? i can send some mp3's if ya like.....-kip

How about almost everything recorded prior to 1980.

;)

Pink Floyd? If I'm not mistaken they're still analogians.

ooh! and btw, don't listen to mp3s of analog albums. If you're trying to get the feel of "real" analog, it would be defeating the purpose. If the definition of the 'warmth' of analog is still the same, it would be lost in mp3s since they are their 'cold' digital cousins.

Thanks, nah Kip its cool since MP3's defeat the purpose of the warmth that analog gives. Im listening to some Pink Floyd later, thanks to everyone who helped me out.

About 70% of BIG budget recordings are mixed to analog tape.
Example: Destinys Child

Dr.Dre is recording everything on Studer 827

Analog is still quite big with some.

I personally love my MCI jh-24 2"
