for a broke man who's pretty light on my gear, it's perfect. if you're going to kick the crap out of it and expect it to last for years, go with something more expensive.
I bought 10 and 2 of them crapped out the first time I used them. This is the second time i bought the 10 pack and I think it will be the last. I had trouble the first time and said that I wouldnt buy them again, but I needed several cables at once and thought for the price ill give them another shot....I just bought 500 feet of mic cable and im in the process of making a 30' snake for recording. NO MORE MUSICIANS FRIEND CABLES!!!
I thought they were an awesome value but with a glitch (what great deals aren't?). First thing I noticed about mine were the very loose-fitting set screws in the XLR plugs. They didn't seem to fit tightly enough even after almost stripping one out in an attempt to repair. I replaced all of them and torqued in some better-fitting standard computer screws and that fixed the problem for me. I've used mine for about 9 months now..
I've bought about 2 dozen of them over the last year or 2 for live use. Over that time I've had 3 go out. I cut the connectors off and toss them in the toolbox. I think I paid $2.50 a piece for them on sale. I just wish they were 25' rather than 20'. That extra couple of feet makes a difference in having or not having to double up cable lengths. For studio use I make my own cables with Belden wire and Neutrik connectors.
