Music Production HELP URGENT

I have been producing and mixing music since a wile now, though i thought that i will get better as i keep practicing which i have, at least to my content, but overall the problem that i face is regarding the mastering, every time i try to do it i get it wrong,

I do not have studio monitors i have a home theater system 5.1 which i have arranged 2 speakers on either side ear level as monitors,
also i use the plugin isotope ozone which has the presets,
the DAW;s i use are ableton 9 and fl studio, but i have tried almost everything it just isn't happening please help me as when i try an mix the vocals or record vocals ant put them together something isn't just right,

Man, unfortunately, it will be very hard to make a good mix with this kind monitors.

Try saving some money and get yourself an entry level pair of monitors, like the small KRK Rokit or the Presonus Eris.

You can't make good mixing decisions if you can't listen to what you're doing properly.

Also, using presets on complex plugins like Ozone wont get you anywhere...Really. You must truly know what you're doing to get good results.
 
Firstly, dealing with the monitors you currently have, I would suggest listening and referencing as much music in the style that you wish to make and hearing how it translates on your system. Without a good monitoring chain, it is difficult but you can train your ears.

Second, don't over complicate things because you think you have to. Forget Mastering and forget Ozone, Mastering Plugs etc, you don't need them and they wont "fix" anything. They'll more than likely make the sound worse, especially if you don't know what you're doing.

Your Number 1 goal should be to get your mix as good as you can get it. If it ain't happening in the mix then it is pointless you trying to master it. It's all about the mix first and foremost. Get that right and then all you should need to do is raise the volume of the final mix down with a Limiter.

And once you get monitors, you need to acoustically treat your room. Good monitors in untreated room does no good.
 
Thanks guys, i was looking at monitors how are the m audio bx5a monitors, also do i need an additional soundcard with it, wont it work with the pc soundcards, for start up i dont know what all to buy just to start up so if you could suggest me
 
Yes, you need an audio interface - the OEM soundcards in most computers have about $0.69 worth of parts and are not designed for music reproduction.
