Hi there,

I am a guitar player that would like to make some home recordings for myself. I play lead guitar, rythm guitar, bass guitar and keyboard and would like to record different tracks for every instrument. I bought myself Music maker (to begin with) but I am having problems with the software. Tried to post questions to the supplier but didnt get any replies after 3 months, that is the reason why I am trying this forum. My problems are:

1. I can record the lead guitar on a track without any problem but if I go to the second track to record the keyboard while listening to the first track, both instruments are recorded on the second track. I would like to have both instruments on seperate tracks for some editing to be done. Is this software not capable of that or am I doing something wrong?

2. In the software package there is a drum machine that have a lot of preset beats that can be modified to your needs but the beat I am looking for is a waltz beat (3/4). Nowhere to be found and the local supplier of this software cant give me an answer of how to do it.

Maybe I am using the wrong software but except for the 2 problems I have encountered above, the software will do the job

I will really appreciate any help with these questions

Thanks
Izak

Hi there,

Is the software by Magix? If so I use the Magix recording studio, which I find brilliant, if it's the same as that I might be able to help.

Music Maker

Hi Pete,

Hi there,

Hope I can help. Whats the problem? I use Magix recording studio deluxe which is great. If you detail your problem maybe I can point you in the right direction.

Hi Pete,
Thanks again. I have problems when I try to make recordings with my own music, not using the sound and instrument files that Magix supply.

1. I can record the lead guitar on a track (let us say track 1) without any problem but if I go to the second track to record the keyboard while listening to the first track, both instruments are recorded on the second track.

These 2 questions are my main concern, if I cant solve problem no.1 then it is not worth trying to solve the others. I must be able to record instruments seperately. I have tried using 2 computers but then I have problems in synchronising the tracks.

Thanks

Isnt Music Maker a looping program?
I think you want Music Studio, atleast thats what I have.
Music studio is like Magix Samplitude lite(samplitude is a the bigboy magix program its like $1000.00 unlike music studio $100).

The music studio I have is so easy to use, I have to be honest, I don't know your program as such. My Magix deluxe software cost me £49.99. It has wave forms for each track and a mixing desk.

If I record track 1 with bass, then track 2 is drums etc In the tools menu you can press various ways you want it to configure, ie playback while record, or not play back etc.

Could you tell me what is on your screen when you want to record.

Hi Pete,

Sorry for not replying sooner, was on holiday for 2 weeks.

I have ordered Magix recording studio deluxe from Amazon.com and will receive the software hopefully within the next 2 weeks. If I experience any problems I would return to this forum to address this. If you would rather like to communicate with me on a more personal way, my email is izak.hattingh@pixie.co.za

Thanks
Izak
