Anybody know anything about these people?
http://www.musicoven.com/

Apparently they will play your unsigned music in bars and restaurants etc and even anounce your web site address, all at no cost!

Sounds too good to be true, so it probably is. Wondered if anyone had given them a try?

I'd guess if its succesfull they'll start charging you for the privilege after a while, like MP3.com did.

BTW I don't work for them, before anyone junmps down my throat!

they don't charge you because they charge the bars. That way the bars don't have to pay fees to ascap, bmi and the other music licensing companies. any business that will be playing music for the public is supposed to pay liscensing fees. I think those fees are something like 500 bucks a year to each licensing company. At 70 bucks a month that can be a ton cheaper than being a member of each of the music licensing companies. That's why they don't charge you.... you're giving your music to them for more exposure and they are selling it to companies for less than the companies would pay for commercial music.

So its both legit and 'a good thing', if you're an unsigned artist that is? And assuming you're not bothered about people hearing your music for free whilst a company makes a profit from it!

Hmmm, wonder if they accept music from non-U.S. nationals? The thought that my tune might be played in an airport waiting lounge somewhere in the States really appeals to me for some bizare reson!
