what do you all think is the best software for a guy in his basement with a mixer goin into a soundcard to multitrack a drum machine, bass, guitar. vocals....ect 1 track at a time, by myself and come up with 8-16 tracks ????don't care about importing midi or nothin....just want something that looks like a 8-16 track recorder and can master down to 2 tracks also.......don't say CEP cause I have sync problems with that....duhhh.....

You could go on ebay and buy "magix music studio 7 Deluxe" for next to nothing. It's made by the people who make samplitude. It looks just like samplitude and it's got most of the features. The program is set up in two seperate programs, audio studio and midi studio. I just fool around with audio like you so i never use or even have to see the midi studio. I used it on an old p2 266mhz computer with no latency problem or anything and that was with the stock soundcard.

PS. if you end up getting this software make sure you get version 7 and make sure it is the deluxe version,I've tried all the other versions and they all had alot of bugs in them, for some reason version 7 deluxe doesn't seem to have any bugs and I've been using it for about 3 years.

bubinski. i use magix version 8. and like it a ton.
audio studio is superb imho. all youll ever need.
my wife bought it for me as a xmas stocking stuffer so i never used version 7.
i dont frankly like the midi side so i use my other favorite sequencer .
(just search under my name for lots of tips).
the two sequencers together came to under 100 bucks and i have enough features to keep me happy for years.
people often ask me why i use two. the answer is that each has its strengths and weaknesses. for example the other one i use has a pattern maker i can use for doing drum track styles and also some interesting
midi notation editing features.
bubinski , if you search under my name - i posted a number of tips awhile back on setting up audio studio properly. covering such things as recording mono and stereo tracks, track templates, and full duplex recording.
peace.
