"multiple recording"----what exactly is it?

does this mean you record several track in order to choose one from, or.... :confused: :eek:
 
I'm not sure.

Maybe it refers to putting multiple mics, at different positions and record them all at the same time.
That way when mixing you can choose the best sounding source and toss the rest, or mix/pan them for effect.
 
What context did you hear or read it in? It can simply mean that someone owns alot of records.
 
Do you mean multitrack recording?

If that's what you mean, it is the process of recording each instrument individually on different tracks.
 
The first thing that pops in my mind when someone says "multiple recordings" is recording the same track multiple times for the purpose of COMBINING THEM to create a bigger, fuller sound.....not to simply pick the one take that sounds best. But the context could make it mean many differnt things.
