so ive been running one firepod for about a year with the best of luck so i figured it was about time to upgrade to the second for more channels of input. man its nothing but problems i.e. syncing issues, over all digital distortion, programs freezing and not responding and an overall slowness to my system. anybody else had this problem yet? im running a pentium 4 2.4 ghz, a gig of ram and XP home edition.

I think that its because its windows XP home edition. I found that if I was running to much into my computer on windows xp it would mess up but with my MAC laptop I was fine. I also have another XP computer with Pro on it and all it has is music software and works amazing. XP I find tends to screw up because of such things as messanger and games. So if you have alot of games on your computer try getting rid of them. (Also before I get bashed on this is from my friend who is a computer tech.

have you got the latest drivers from presonus plus upgraded the firmware?

Do you have it daisy chained or running on separate ports? Maybe a 2 port firewire card to run each on its own port would help? I really hope you get this to work cause that was my upgrade path also

thanks for all the replies. yes i have the upgraded drivers for the firepods. and im not sure if two firepods will sync if they are not daisychained but its worth a try.

Two things I'd check:

-make sure hyperthreading is disabled.
-Make sure that only one of the firepods is set to internal sync the other should be set to external. Or simply have one as master the other as slave.

I think that it may even be wise to use an external clock sync altogether but that just brings a whole other world of funds into the picture.

Just some stabs in the dark and only my opinion. Apply ample salt.

Yeah, I've definitely had similar issues - when I was just using 1 FP with the original drivers, I could run something like 1 or 2 ms of latency... now I have to run like 18 with the new drivers for ONE Firepod. For two, it works sometimes. But that's max latency, and takes a few restarts to get it to sync right. Not exactly what I was hoping for... :-/ I'm going to reinstall XP Pro (what I already have) here soon, and go through all the recommended things to get XP to go faster, and we'll see... I'm actually switching over to Sonar 5 Pro, too, if I can get it to work well. We'll see.

im having the same issues now, ive returned back to driver 1.17 under the advisment of the presonus tech. but its kinda bull how i cant run 2 of these things properly off of an adequate system. i feel kinda ripped off. maybe get a new computer? who knows at this point. my laptop hard drive is only 5600 rpm, im thinking of upgarding to XP pro and a 7200 rpm drive. think this will help?
