hi i got a laptop with enogh space and RAM but with a Intel Celeron M processor... new celeron. i can get the audio from the computer to run trough the mixer from the fireiwre cable only... but i get "gaps" from any audio... what i meen is that the audio skips i dont know why, friends say maybe its the processor, that i should use pentium 4. everything is configured and conected perfect.AFter a couple of minutes i lost compleately the auido from the laptop and doesnt reach the mixer as if it gots lost cause the LED doesnt indicate... i dondt know what to do... please anyone help me.

i have to restart both laptop and mixer to get the sound back. but i gets lost again and again... i cant put my tracks down. damn!

Yeah, this has been touched on before. It seems that 1 out of 10(Im guessing here), have issues with setup.

1st go to Windows update and update. Net 2.0
Uninstall and then reinstall drivers/firmware(their are new drivers on website)

I also experienced my Laptop basically losing communication with the board. When this happened I would open the Multimix Control Panel and just reset the Master Clock. This always worked for me. This can be done without closing your audio application.

Another thing that helped some is I went into devices and disabled my Laptops soundcard.

Its a bumpy road but It does get better, unfortunately I found that my board had a defect in it and right now Alesis is correcting it. But my stereo inputs aside, once i got it going, it worked fine. Hope this bit of info helps.

Same problems I had with my Toshiba Celeron (1.22ghz, 512mb SDRAM)...

Hate to tell you this, but hang it up with a Celeron... Firewire and Celeron don't live well together... Don't know why... Presonus and Alesis both will tell you you'll prolly never get things stable on a Celeron Processor... I came across about the same problems reported on a video forum that couldn't be resolved with firewire video transfers to Celeron machines...

Best bet is find a Pentium 4 or Pentium M that's being clearanced out... Dell has some good deals going on laptops this week and you can always find a PC that'll have more than enough "UMPH" to do what you need for a few hundred bucks.. Just make sure it's NOT a Celeron processor...

thanks bair_ohio!! for your help. so you had the same problem right? let me know if you are doing well already by fixing and reinstalling with the drivers from the web, so maybe the cd driver that came with the mixer is not good... i still have my doubt with the processor because it is a new one and people are buying it because it seems is good! but i dont know im going to try it out as you say. ill let you know thanks a lot! :)
