Multichannel mixing

I just learned about there being 5.1 mixing in Audition. How dooes one do 5.1 mixes? That is, where would I go to learn how to do it properly.
Also what file type will be able to save a multichannel mix.
Also is it possible to do 7.1 mixes and how would you do it in Audition?

Step one would be to check out the multichannel encoder in the help file and let us know if and where you get stuck. Actually from your post I'm not sure whether you are already an Audition user or not - if not, I'd strongly suggest downloading the demo version and having a try.

That's not what I mean.

I don't mean just how to operate it. I mean where can I find out about proper 5.1 and 7.1 mixing techniques, such as the pros use.

I just googled "5.1 mixing" and got 10 pages of hits. You might try the same.
